Sci-Fi still remains an untapped, risky genre and off-course rarely attempted by Indian filmmakers.
However, Indian cinema across all industries (Bollywood, Kollywood, and Tollywood) boasts umpteen classics from every genre but there are just a handful of really good sci-fi films.
However, Indian cinema does have a select few sci-fi gems that should be high on the list of any sci-fi buff.
Superstar Rajinikanth’s Robot (Enthiran / Robo ) set new benchmarks for sci-fi films to follow, with never before seen special effects and an exciting plot that is undivertable from start to finish.
Recent announcement is that director: Shankar is all set with it's sequel 2.O, with Akshay kumar in negative lead role.

This one is still the greatest sci-fi film ever produced in India. The concept of invisibility was way ahead of its time and moreover, its execution was spot-on. This movie also gave greatest Baddie villains - "Mogambo" played by Amrish Puri & famous dialouge- "Mogambo khush huwa...."

Koi Mil Gaya pushed out the sci-fi genre to a next level in 2003 and brought it back on the map of Indian cinema. However the movie had some inspiration from E.T., it proved that filmmakers the belief that the genre could work in India, besides giving us our very own alien, Jadoo, which was loved across generations.
Then Krrish came in 2006, and upped the game even further.
Krrish 3, which had released in 2013, was something of a critical disappointment, but a massive box-office success and boasts special effects on the Bollywood scene.
According to recent reports, Rakesh and Hrithik Roshan have planned for Krrish 4. Hope to get to see some thing new.

However, was not liked by few critics and audience alike.
As per recent reports, Shahrukh khan- king of bollywood is Keen to give another try on the sequel to this movie which can satisfy both Critics and audience.
